Well, I achieved my goal. Several months ago, I registered for the St. Patrick's Day 8K, knowing that I would be 33 weeks pregnant at the time. My hope was that I would still be running, but honestly? I thought I would be walking it. My attitude was, "At least I'll be out there, even if I do have to walk some or all of the race." Will wonders never cease? I RAN (okay, preggo jogged) the entire race! Dad (aka Grandpa Shane) came along and ran it with me. It was great having the company (thanks, Da!) and it was funny how much both of us noticed the stares and comments I was getting. At the start I overheard two women: "Look at her!" "Yeah, and she'll STILL probably beat me!" Haha! I think I even put a kick-start into some runners--I would pass someone walking and two seconds later, they would pick up the pace, probably thinking, "I can't get passed by some pregnant chick!!" Whatever works--I can relate to the mental kicks in the butt!
Here are my official stats:
Time: 55:35 (under an hour--I was VERY happy with that!)
Pace: 11:11
Place: 1492 out of 1796 women; 289 out of 358 in women in my age group (30-34 years of age)
I am used to being in the top half of finishers, but I can't scoff at those numbers either!
Monkey seemed to enjoy the race and was even kind enough to let me finish the entire race without forcing me to find a Federal building to duck behind and pee on (Monkey doesn't want Mama in prison!!!).
I have to decide now if I want to continue running for as long as I can...This race was my "I'd like to still be running up to this point" date. I can't see me stopping just because I reached that goal. The weather is getting nicer and I still feel up for it, so why not? Let's see how long I can go!
Now for the proof--here are some pics from just after the race. I also hope that some course photographers got some shots of me--I'll let you know!

P.S. DC Mayor Fenty joined in the action, finishing in an impressive 33 minutes! I'd take a running mayor over a crack-smoking one any day! Way to go, Adrian!
